Heinrich von Herford

Henry of Herford; Heinrich of Hervord, Henricus de Hervordia; (* Around 1300 in Herford, † October 9, 1370 in the Dominican monastery of St. Pauli in Minden ), scholar Dominicans, chronicler, historian and theologian.

Life

About the life of Henry of Herford, there are few facts. Born around 1300 in Herford, he probably attended the grammar school of the local imperial abbey (today Friedrich -Gymnasium Herford ) and entered the Dominican Order at Minden, at the General Chapter, he took part in Milan 1340. He died on October 9, 1370 in the Dominican monastery of St. Pauli in Minden, where he spent most likely the majority of his life. The Henry's writings have him already have briefly introduced a relative celebrity after his death, as Charles IV, seven years after Henry's death prompted a reburial in a more honorable tomb and a large funeral ceremony hosted to which a number of people from secular as well as spiritual significance were in attendance.
