Heinrich XIII, Prince Reuss of Greiz

Prince Heinrich XIII. Reuss like L. ( born February 16, 1747 in Greiz, † January 29, 1817 ibid ) from the House of Reuss was from 1800 the reigning prince of the Principality of Reuss elder line, a direct imperial territory in the Holy Roman Empire and from 1815 a province in the German covenant.

Life

Heinrich XIII. was a son of Prince Heinrich XI. Reuss to Greiz, the first prince of the older line, and his first wife Countess Reuss Konradine to Koestritz. He succeeded his father as Prince Reuss Greiz in 1800.

After the devastating fire in Greiz 1802, he left the Lower Castle until 1809 in the classical style build up again and moved the residence final of the Upper Castle in the Lower Castle.

As a general Feldzeugmeister Henry stood with his brothers Heinrich and Heinrich XIV XV. in the Austrian service and was a close friend of the Emperor Joseph II

Heinrich XIII. joined with his country in 1807 the Confederation of the Rhine and in 1815 the German Confederation. At the Congress of Vienna, he succeeded in a territorial dispute with the Kingdom of Saxony and resolve to win several towns Altgommla and Kühdorf for his principality.

Progeny

The prince married on January 9, 1786 in Kirchheimbolanden Luise ( 1765-1837 ), daughter of Prince Karl Christian of Nassau- Weilburg, with whom he had the following children:
