Heinz Kinigadner

Heinz Kinigadner (born 28 January 1960 in Uderns, Tyrol) is an Austrian motocross rider.

Trained baker and pastry chef won in 1978 several Austrian Champion title in motocross (125 cc, 250 cc and 500 cc ). In 1982 he succeeded in the Motocross World Championship 250 cc class on a Yamaha 's first victory at the Grand Prix in Italy. 1984 and 1985 he became world champion in the 250 cc class on KTM. He started in the 1990s primarily at motorcycle rallies. His first place at the Paris-Dakar Rally with KTM in 1994 was followed by disqualification due to an engine swap. He won in the same year at the Pharaoh's Rally, 1995 at the Paris- Beijing and 1996 in the Atlas - Rally. Since 1997 he works as a sports manager for KTM. He ended his athletic career as a driver in 2003 due to a serious motocross accident his son Hannes, in which this remained paralyzed.

After the accident, his son Hannes, he founded with his friend Dietrich Mateschitz, the Wings for Life Foundation, which has set itself the goal of making paraplegia curable.
