Heinz Krügel

Heinz Krügel ( born April 24, 1921 in Oberplanitz, † October 27, 2008 in Magdeburg ) was one of the most successful football coach in the GDR. With the 1 FC Magdeburg, he won the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1974.

Career

The age of six Krügel began with the football game at Planitzer SC. During the Second World War he was injured as a soldier on the Eastern Front, fought afterwards in the Balkans, where it was in captivity, from which he returned in 1946. In 1948, he was among the crew of SG Planitz that won the first Ostzonenmeisterschaft 1948, but was not in the final against the SG free Imfelde Hall (1-0 ). 1976 Krügel was the GDR Football Association banned as a trainer for life on the grounds that he had promoted the development of the power of the Olympic team 1.FC Magdeburg insufficient.
