Heinz Woester

Heinz Woester ( born June 7, 1901 in Zurich, † October 7, 1970 in Ehrwald ) was a Swiss actor.

Life

Woester attended the Canton of Zurich school and after graduation worked as a French and Italian correspondent in Amsterdam. He received his acting training at the Conservatory in Dresden Alice Daffner - Politz.

He made his debut in 1925 at the State Theatre in Dresden Goethe's Faust with the Prologue in Heaven and as Valentin. Subsequently he was engaged until 1935 at the State Theater in Dresden. From 1935 to 1945, he played as a character hero at the Burgtheater in Vienna. Roles there have included Albrecht in Friedrich Hebbel's Agnes Bernauer (1935 ), Cassio in Othello ( 1935), Jason in The Golden Fleece (1936 ), Don Manuel in The Bride of Messina (1936 ), Hohenzollern in The Prince of Homburg (1937 ), Lerse in Götz von Berlichingen (1938 ), Leicester in Mary Stuart (1939 ), Bassanio in The Merchant of Venice (1943) and Wrangel in Wallenstein ( 1943).

Since 1945 he worked at the Schauspielhaus Zurich. There he was, among others, as Prospero in The Tempest, as emperor in Cathy of Heilbronn (1953) and Odysseus in Penthesilea (1954 ) can be seen. Tours have taken him to many cities in Europe and South America. As a director, he worked for the Academic Theatre Group at the University of Zurich.

Heinz Woesters film career began in 1940 when Prof. Dr. Graber calibration in the German film production operetta.

He was married to Annelli Schmitz.
