Helene Maimann

Helene Maimann ( * 1947 in Vienna) is an Austrian historian, author, exhibition and filmmaker.

After studying in history, German literature and philosophy in Vienna Maimann his doctorate in 1973 with a thesis on the Austrian exile in 1975 under the title policy in the waiting room. Austrian exile politics in the UK was published from 1938 to 1945. Between 1980 and 1994 she was a lecturer at the Universities of Vienna and Salzburg and visiting professor at the Vienna University of Technology. Maimann initiated in the 1980s, several major exhibitions on Austrian history:

The exhibitions attracted by the places of their presentation - a tram depot, a complete railway train or one of the four Gasometer in Vienna Simmerung - as well as a sensation by Avant-garde and all media inclusive design. After years of working for the Ludwig Boltzmann Society Maimann worked since 1991 as an editor for the ORF and was there from 1995 to 2006 responsible for the documentary film strips Nightwatch, focus, and documents. In addition Maimann published numerous articles and books and curated in the exhibition The New Republic Austria at the Vienna Belvedere the topics " National Socialism " and " Exile " (2005). Since 2008 Maimann works primarily as a filmmaker and author who teaches at the Vienna Film Academy. For the radio station Ö1 designed Maimann numerous features and held talks among other things, Eric Hobsbawm, Amos Oz (2007) and Gerald Stourzh ( 2009). 2010 her documentary was The stars do not go out. Survival shown in hiding at the Jewish Film Festival Zagreb.

Helene Maimann 2011 received the Karl Renner Journalism Award and was honored in 2013 with the Cross of Honour for Science and Art of the Republic of Austria.
