Helge Holden

Helge Holden (* September 28 1956 in Oslo) is a Norwegian mathematician and mathematical physicist.

Holden put his candidate in 1981 and examination in 1985 at Raphael Høegh - Krohn at the University of Oslo PhD (Point Interactions and the short-range expansion. A Solvable Models in Quantum Mechanics and Its approximation). As a post - graduate student, he was 1985/86 at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences of New York University. Since 1986 he is Assistant Professor and he is since 1991 professor of mathematics at the Norwegian Institute of Technology in Trondheim. He is also Adjunct Professor in Oslo.

In 1986 he was a visiting scientist at Caltech and 1996/97 at the University of Missouri.

It deals with partial differential equations ( hyperbolic conservation laws ), mathematical physics, stochastic analysis, integrable systems and hydrodynamics in porous media.

He is a member of Det Norske Kongelige Videnskabers Selskab in Trondheim, the Norwegian Academy of Science and the Norwegian Academy of Technology and the European Academy of Sciences.

In 2004 he was invited speaker at the European Congress of Mathematicians in Stockholm ( On the Camassa -Holm and Hunter - Saxton equations the ).

He was in 1996 one of the editors of the Collected Works of Lars Onsager.
