Helgi Ólafsson

Helgi Ólafsson ( born August 15, 1956 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic chess player.

Helgi Olafsson received from FIDE in 1977 awarded the title of International Master, 1985, the Grand Master title. Since 2009, he additionally carries the title of FIDE Senior Trainer. He won the Icelandic championship in 1978, 1981, 1991, 1993, 1994 ( 1st - 3rd place) and 1996.

His current Elo rating is 2535 (as of October 2007), so it is on the third place of the Icelandic FIDE rankings.
