Helier

Saint Helier ( or Helerius; † 555 ) was an ascetic hermit in the 6th century. The tradition handed down 555 as the year of his martyrdom. He is said to have been a disciple of St. Markulf and have perished on the Channel Island of Jersey. Name day is July 16. Year after year, on 17 July Pilgrim at Hermitage rocks in order to celebrate a Mass in honor of the saint. The relics were kept in the Beaubec monastery in Normandy.

He is the patron saint of the island of Jersey. The capital of this island, Saint Helier, and a suburb of London in the borough of Sutton are named after him.
