Hellion (band)

Hellion is a power metal band from California, USA.

History

1982 Hellion founded by the singer Ann Boleyn in Los Angeles. The group started as a cover band and played several classic hard rock of Ozzy Osbourne, Scorpions and AC / DC to. Boleyn actually began as a keyboard player of the group, but took over after a short time the vocals.

The group worked in the club scene a good reputation and has been prepared by Streetzine magazine as the "best metal band LA " is selected. Towards the end of 1982, Mystic Records, a punk label based in Hollywood, the band under contract. Shortly before the shooting, however, Peyton Tuthill left the band because he could not do anything with the occult side of Ann Boleyn and was replaced by Rik Foxx, however, the band left after a very short time. At the last minute he was replaced by Brian West. Some months later, a single was released along with Bitch. 1983, Hellion a proper line-up with bassist Bill Sweet and a second lead guitarist, Alan Barlam.

Hoping to come up with a larger record deal, the band went into the Fiddler's studio in Hollywood to record a demo. The basic tracks were recorded in one night, between midnight and 7 clock early. Guitar solos and vocals and the Schlussmix followed the next day. However, the hoped-for record deal did not materialize. Because the band did not have the facilities to produce enough demo tapes, she founded Bongus Lodus Records and made their first record itself forth. The 12'' was the time resulted in Kerrang and Aardschok in the import charts. Subsequently, the London-based record label Music for Nations was noisy. She took Hellion under contract, so that they could release their first self-titled mini- LP in January 1984. The group then went on a chaotic tour of Britain and played at the legendary Marquee Club. The poor organization and completely crashed tour brought Hellion but to the brink of financial ruin.

Although they had success in England, and later also received support from Ronnie James Dio and his managers Wendy Dio and Curt Lorraine, they still had no record deal in America. In response, the members of the band in early 1985 parted again. Ann Boleyn was looking up new members. The former members founded the group Burn.

Ann Boleyn took with Alex Campbell ( bass), Chet Thompson ( guitar) and Greg Pecka (ex - Dokken, drums), a new demo, shortly after the debut album followed Screams in the Night. Also, this line-up broke but quite fast, as the three new members wanted to go into the more commercial hair metal direction more.

In 1988 Postcards from the Asylum, again with the line-up of the first mini- LP, only without Glenn Cannon, who was replaced by Dave Dutton. In 1989, Boleyn her own label New Renaissance and published there ( again with a new line -up ) the LP The Black Book. The concept album tells the story of Boleyn family who would have magical abilities. The concept was particularly popular in the former Soviet Union and so Hellion played there on tour. Then the group split up, however.

2003 returned Hellion and released the album Will Not Go Quietly.
