Helmut Lütkepohl

Helmut Lütkepohl ( born July 26, 1951) is a German economist who has specialized in econometrics. He's Bundesbank Professor at the Free University of Berlin.

Life

Lütkepohl 1977, he received his diploma in mathematics from the University of Bielefeld. Here he became in 1981 a doctorate in economics. He then completed his habilitation in 1984 at the University of Osnabrück. After a year at the University of California, San Diego in 1985, he received his first professorship at the University of Hamburg. From 1987 to 1992 he was Professor of Statistics at the Institute of Statistics and Econometrics, Christian- Albrechts -University of Kiel and 1992 to 2005 of Econometrics at the Humboldt University in Berlin. Since 2002 he has taught at the European University Institute in Florence. Since 2012 he has directed the Graduate Center of the German Institute for Economic Research in Berlin. Since 2012 Lütkepohl professor at the Free University of Berlin.

2011, when Lütkepohl still researched and taught in Florence, chose the Handelsblatt Lütkepohl the best German economist in the non- German speaking countries.
