Helmut Reichmann

Helmut Reichmann ( born December 23, 1941 † March 10, 1992 ) was a German glider pilot, three-time World Gliding Champion and together with Barron Hilton founder of the Barron Hilton Cup. He was Professor of Art (specializing in "Experimental plastic " ) at the College of Fine Arts ( HBK ) Saar and in the 80 years Professor of Design at the University of Applied Sciences of the Saarland in Saarbrücken in the Department of Product Design. Since 1989

Reichmann began in 1958 as a teenager with the training of glider pilots and was within a few years one of the best and most famous German glider pilot.

Since 1973, he coached the German national team.

He wrote two books Streckensegelflug ( emerged from his sport theoretical dissertation at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Karlsruhe) and gliding - the practical training which today are among the standard works for the training of glider pilots.

Reichmann was one of the initiators of the gliding - country performance center Marpingen, which has now been named after him.
