Helorus
Eloro (Greek Ἕλωρος, also Ἔλωρος ) is the ancient Heloros in Sicily.
Location and data
Eloro is located about five miles south of Noto on the coast of the Ionian Sea and the mouth of the river Tellaro. The place is in the area of Noto.
History
Eloro was probably founded in the 8th century BC by Syracuse from. Finds of Greek ceramics are proof of this
Excavations
The city was surrounded by a wall. There were two square towers, the north and the south. There were houses and streets from the 8th to the 4th century BC. In the north, a small temple was found at the Asklepios was consecrated. Next there is a large temple in the south of the excavations.
