Hemiunu

Hemiunu (also Hemiun ) was a prince of the ancient Egyptian 4th Dynasty. During the reign of Pharaoh Khufu, he held the post of vizier and was thus the highest official to the king. Hemiunu also bore the title " chief of all works of the king " and thus was most likely responsible for the construction of the Great Pyramid of Cheops.

Family

The exact origin Hemiunus is not entirely clear. His father is buried in Meidum Prince Nefermaat. His father, in turn, is not unequivocally identified. It is either Pharaoh Sneferu or its predecessor Huni. Hemiunu would therefore be a nephew or a cousin of Cheops. About women and children is not known.

His grave

Hemiunu part of the mastaba G 4000 on the western cemetery of the pyramid of Cheops. The only Mastaba from this time period, it contains two grave chambers, one of which was possibly intended for a woman Hemiunus. In the northern Serdab the grave plant a larger than life statue of limestone Hemiunu was found, which is now in the Roemer - und Pelizaeus - Museum Hildesheim. She also testified its prominent position because of the reign of Cheops are otherwise no other private statues known.
