Hempstead House

The Gould Guggenheim Estate, also called Hempstead House, is a historic property, and includes 16 buildings, including a former mansion in Sands Point, Long Iceland in the U.S. state of New York.

The castle-like house, a copy of the Irish Kilkenny Castle, was built in 1902-1912 by Howard Gould and also sometimes mentioned under the name " Castle Gould ." In 1917 it was purchased by Daniel Guggenheim. 1971 bequeathed to his son Harry F. Guggenheim the whole property, including his country estate " Falaise " the Nassau County, who made it available to the public. Today the area is part of the nature reserve " Sands Point Preserve ".
