Hendrik Scheffer

Henry Scheffer ( born September 25, 1798 in The Hague, † March 15, 1862 in Paris) was a French painter of Dutch origin.

Life

Scheffer is the son of the painter Jean -Baptiste Scheffer and his wife, the miniature painter Cornelia Lamme. The painter Ary Scheffer is his brother.

The painter Ary Scheffer Arnold is the son of Henry Scheffer and a daughter later married the writer Ernest Renan.

Scheffer was a student of Comte Pierre Narcisse Guérin. He worked as a historical, genre and portrait painter.
