Hendrik van Steenwijk II

Hendrick van Steenwyck (the younger ) was a Dutch painter of architecture (* 1580 in Frankfurt am Main † before 1649 in London).

He was the son of of Steenwijk ( Overijssel ) in the Netherlands originating Hendrick van Steenwyck the Elder, who was also a painter of architecture.

He later worked in Antwerp and London. He has church interiors, large halls and palace rooms with window dressing, but also the architectural backgrounds painted to portraits of other artists. His paintings are often (for example, in Berlin, in the Imperial Gallery at Vienna, the Louvre in Paris, in the Hermitage at St Petersburg, and in the galleries of Dresden and Kassel). His painterly treatment is free and wider than that of the father.
