Jean-Baptiste Descamps

Jean -Baptiste Descamps ( born August 28, 1714 Dunkirk, Nord Department, † June 30, 1791 in Rouen, Seine- Maritime Department ) was a French painter and writer.

Life

Descamps was in Paris a pupil of Nicolas de Largillière and then settled in Rouen. He painted with fondness domestic and rural scenes, but is less known for his paintings as his books.
