Henk ten Cate

Henk ten Cate (* December 9, 1954 in Amsterdam) is a Dutch football coach.

Playing career

Henk ten Cate played at the beginning of his career at Vitesse Arnhem, PFC Rheden and Go Ahead Eagles Deventer. In 1980 he moved for one year in the North American professional league to the NASL Edmonton Drillers. His other stations were called again Go Ahead Eagles Deventer (1980 to 1985), Telstar Ijmuiden (1981 /82) and SC Heracles Almelo (1985 /86).

Coaching career

As Henk Ten Cate 05 worked at KFC Uerdingen in Germany, he went with the traditional club from the regional league. He then moved to MTK Budapest, the Hungarian Cup in 2000 he was the winner. Ten Cate had as an assistant coach at FC Barcelona success, and he and Frank Rijkaard met each other even more from each other. Successor of Henk ten Cate was Johan Neeskens. After a year as a coach at Ajax Amsterdam was ten Cate assistant coach at Chelsea behind Avram Grant. After the dismissal Grant was initially assured him that this would not compromise his position. On 29 May 2008, however, he was eventually released. Since June 13, 2008 ten Cate stood by the Greek tradition Panathinaikos Athens under contract. The employment relationship at Panathinaikos ended prematurely on 8 December 2009. After two coach stations in the Arab Henk ten Cate was appointed as the new coach of the Chinese team Shandong Luneng on 14 December 2011. Since April 2013 he coached Sparta Rotterdam.
