Henri Charles de La Trémoille

Henri Charles de La Trémoille, (* December 17, 1620 at Château de Thouars, † September 14, 1672 ) was a member of La Trémoille, Duke of La Trémouille, prince de Talmont and de Tarente, comte de Laval, de Montfort, de Bourg waist and de Benon. Henri Charles was a leader of the Fronde.

Life

Henri Charles was the son of Henri de La Trémoille, duc de Thouars, and his wife Marie de la Tour d' Auvergne ( 1600-1665 ). 1628 his father had become a Catholic with his children, while the mother was Huguenot.

When Henri Charles reached the age of majority, his mother was able to convince him to return to Protestantism. 1638 Henri Charles joined the military operations of his great-uncle Frederick Henry of Orange, the youngest son of William I of Orange, at. With his daughter Luise Henriette, nachmaliger Electress of Brandenburg, he maintained a love affair.

During the Fronde in October 1651 La Trémoille turned against Cardinal Mazarin and freely admitted to the Prince de Condé. Five years later he was therefore arrested and detained in Amiens. His mother was able to secure his release after several months. He then served again in Holland in 1668 but returned back to Thouars, as his seriously ill father had given him the affairs of the duchy. He died two years before his father, and as 3rd Duke of Thouars followed this Henri Charles ' eldest son.

Henri Charles married on May 15, 1648 Kassel Emilie ( 1626-1693 ), daughter of the Landgrave William V of Hesse -Kassel and his wife Amalie Elisabeth of Hanau coins mountain, with whom he had the following children:
