Henri Gault

Henri Gault (* November 4, 1929; † July 9, 2000 in Saint- Sulpice -en- Pareds, Vendée ) was a French food critic and journalist.

Career

Gault worked for the French evening newspaper " Paris - Presse", where he met Christian Millau. Both devoted themselves there culinary topics. Hence in 1962, first published in Paris Restaurant Guide " guide Juillard " developed. From 1969 gave Gault and Millau restaurant guide Gault Millau out.

And Gault Millau coined around 1972 together with her friend André Gayot the term nouvelle cuisine.

Gault's penchant for good food stemmed from hunger he suffered in World War II. He called it the " belated revenge " on hunger. The reviews Gault Millau and received a lot of attention because they often were trailing in cynical - sarcastic way about chefs.

From 1986 Gault no longer worked at the Gault Millau. He died in 2000 in western France.
