Henri Jules, Prince of Condé

Henri Jules de Bourbon ( * July 29, 1643 in Paris, † April 1, 1709 in Paris) was fifth Prince of Condé and Duke of Albret, Enghien, Châteauroux, Montmorency and Guise, Marquis of Graville, multiple peer of France, First Prince of the Blood, Grand Master of France and Knight of the Order of the Holy spirit.

Life

Henri III. Jules de Bourbon was the son of Louis II de Bourbon, prince de Condé and his wife Claire Clemence de Maille - Brézé.

Since the age of three years, until the death of his father in 1686, he bore the title of Duke of Enghien. Henri Jules had with him during the Fronde into exile, but returned back in 1659. Around the year 1663 he was a candidate for the Polish throne, but is smashed this plan, as well as from the father desired for him military career. After the death of his father he took care primarily to the expansion of the castle Chantilly, the headquarters of his family.

Throughout his life Henri Jules was mentally striking and terrorized his family and servants. With increasing age, the conspicuity but grew into permanent insanity.

Marriage and issue

In 1663, Henri married III. Jules de Bourbon Anna Henriette von Pfalz- simmering (1648-1723), daughter of the Count Palatine Eduard von Pfalz- simmering. From their marriage the following children were born:

  • Marie- Anne (1678-1718) ∞ 1710 Joseph Louis II de Bourbon, duc de Vendôme
  • A daughter (1679-1680)

From the connection with Francoise de Montalaise he had a daughter born out of wedlock, which was legitimized in 1692:
