Henrique Mitchell de Paiva Couceiro

Henrique Mitchell de Paiva Cabral Couceiro ( born December 30, 1861 in São Mamede, Lisbon, † February 11, 1944 in São Sebastião da Pedreira, Lisbon ) was a Portuguese soldier, colonial Governor and monarchist politician.

He was known especially for his career during the occupation of Mozambique after the British ultimatum as well as by two coup attempts of the First Portuguese Republic.

From 1907 to 1909 he was 89th colonial governor of the Portuguese colony of Angola. Because of his struggle for the Portuguese monarchy had Paiva Couceiro serve several exile stays. In exile, he rose to become leader of the monarchists, who were mainly in Galicia, Spain. There, he prepared several coups action against the Portuguese Republic.

Paiva Couceiro married on 21 November 1896 in Encarnação his wife Júlia Maria do Carmo de Noronha, with whom he had three daughters and two sons.
