Henry F. Phillips

Henry F. Phillips ( * 1890, † 1958) was an American businessman from Portland, Oregon, which in 1933 the patent (U.S. Patent # 2,046,343, U.S. patent # 2,046,837 to 2,046,840 ) for the now generally as a cross or Phillips screw - known screw type JP Thompson bought from.

The screw type is now used in some improved form of the widest worldwide and bears his name. In 1949, however, he lost the patent for the design again, as it was already too often copied.
