Henry Glen

Henry Glen ( born July 13, 1739 Schenectady, New York, † January 6, 1814 ) was an American politician. Between 1793 and 1801, he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Henry Glen grew up during the British colonial period. He worked as a clerk ( clerk ) in Schenectady County on 27 February 1767 to 11 March 1809. During this time he served in the Revolutionary War as Deputy Quartermaster General. Between 1774 and 1776, he sat in the first, second and third Provincial Congress and in the years 1786 and 1787 in the New York State Assembly. Politically, he was a member of the Pro- Administration Group.

In the congressional elections of 1792 for the 3rd Congress Glen was selected in the eighth electoral district of New York at the time which meets even in Philadelphia U.S. House of Representatives, where he served as the first representative of the district in the U.S. House of Representatives took up his duties on March 4, 1793. In the following time he joined the Federalist Party. As a candidate of that party he was then re-elected in the following three conventions. He retired after the March 3, 1801 out of the Congress.

After his conference time he was in 1810 again in the New York State Assembly. He died on January 6, 1814 in Schenectady.
