Henry J. Latham

Henry Jepson Latham ( born December 10, 1908 in Brooklyn, New York, † June 26, 2002 in Southold, New York) was an American lawyer and politician. Between 1945 and 1958 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Henry Jepson Latham graduated from Richmond Hill High School and St. John 's College in Brooklyn. He then went on to Brooklyn Law School, where he first made his Bachelor of Laws in 1931 and made ​​his Master of Laws. After receiving his license to practice law, he began practicing in Brooklyn. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party. He ran unsuccessfully in 1938 for the Senate from New York. In the years 1941 and 1942 he sat in the New York State Assembly. After the entry of the United States into the Second World War, he enlisted in 1942 in the U.S. Navy, where he served until his retirement in 1945. He then entered the United States Navy Reserve.

In the congressional elections of 1944 he was in the third electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Joseph L. Pfeifer on January 4, 1945. He was re-elected three times in a row. Then he ran in 1952 in the fourth electoral district of New York for a congress seat. After a successful election, he entered on January 4, 1953, to succeed Gary Clemente. He was re-elected twice in a row and entered 31 December 1958 and resigned his Congress seat.
