Henry M. Goldfogle

Henry Mayer Goldfogle (* May 23, 1856 in New York City; † June 1, 1929 ) was an American politician.

Goldfogle studied law, was admitted to the legal profession in 1877 and commenced practice in New York City once. 1887 and 1893 he was a judge on the 5th District Court, and from 1888 to 1900 at the District Court of New York City. Then Goldfogle began to work as a lawyer again.

In the years 1892 and 1896 was Goldfogle a delegate to the Democratic National Conventions relevant. In the elections to the 57th Congress, he was elected for his party in the House of Representatives of the United States and represented there, the New York State on March 4, 1901 to March 3, 1915. Overall, he was re-elected six times. In the re-election to the 64th Congress, he was defeated by Socialist Meyer London. This could defend against Goldfogle his seat even at the next election, and was only beaten by Goldfogle in the election for 66th Congress. Goldfogle was now March 4, 1919 and March 3, 1921 again the House of Representatives of the United States, but lost his seat again at the next election to Meyer London. After retiring from politics Goldfogle began again to practice. In July 1921 he was appointed president of the New York City Board of Taxes and Assessments. He held this post until his death on June 1, 1929. Goldfogle was buried at the Union Hills Cemetery on Long Iceland.
