Henry Markell

Henry Markell ( born February 7, 1792 in Stone Arabia, New York, † August 30, 1831 in Palatine, New York) was an American lawyer and politician. Between 1825 and 1829 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives. Congressman Jacob Markell was his father.

Career

Henry Markell visited community schools. He studied law. After receiving his license to practice law, he began to practice. As a result of fragmentation of the Democratic-Republican Party before and during the presidency of John Quincy Adams (1825-1829), he joined the Adams Group. In the congressional elections of 1824 for the 19th Congress Markell in the 16th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of John W. Cady on March 4, 1825. After a successful re-election in 1826 in the 20th Congress, he retired after March 3, from 1829, from the Congress. On August 30, 1831, he died in Palatine and was then buried in the cemetery at St. Johnsville in Montgomery County.
