The Henry River is a river in the north-west of the Australian state of Western Australia. It is located in the Pilbara region.

Geography

The river rises between high range and Barlee Range and flows along the western border of the Barlee Range Nature Reserve to the north. Southeast of Nanutarra Roadhouse it flows into the Ashburton River.

Origin of the name

The river was discovered and named in 1866 by the pastoralists and researchers ET Hooley in applying a cattle drive route from Perth to Roebourne. Hooley named the river after John Henry Monger, a merchant from York.
