Henry Sloan

Henry Sloan (* January 1870 in Mississippi; † unknown) was, as far as known, one of the earliest blues musicians ever.

Little is known about the life of Henry Sloan, is there any footage of him. Already around 1897 to Sloan played the blues. In 1900 he lived in Bolton, Mississippi and moved a few years later to the Dockery Plantation in Cleveland, Mississippi. There he met Charley Patton, whose teacher he was for several years and which he taught to play the guitar. The Dockery Plantation, located in the heart of the Mississippi Delta, it was the birthplace of the Delta Blues.

By 1918 Sloan moved to Chicago.
