The Arctowski station is a Polish Antarctic Station on the west side of Admiralty Bay of King George Iceland, which was opened on 26 February 1977.

It is named after Henryk Arctowski (1871-1958), a Polish geophysicists, geographers, travelers and polar scientists. Arctowski was one of the participants of the Belgica expedition, to which also the then unknown Roald Amundsen participated.

Building, structure, roles

A main building as a community center and 30 individual containers form the research station, which is designed for the wintering of 19 researchers. First, mainly biological, meteorological and geophysical research work was carried out. With the adjacent 40 km from the Russian Bellingshausen Station is close cooperation, including in matters of supply and logistics.

The Polish Post gave the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the research station in February 1987 out of six commemorative stamps and first-day jewelry envelope.
