Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition

The International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition (Polish:. Międzynarodowy bankruptcy Skrzypcowy in Henryka Wieniawskiego ) is competition for violinists, who in 1935 called for the hundredth anniversary of Henryk Wieniawski in life. He is the oldest of its kind since 1952, he is held every five years in Poznań.

The founder of the festival was 1935, the younger brother of Wieniawski, Adam Wieniawski. The aim of the festival should be the promotion of the music of the brother and the promotion of young violin talents. The festival was to take place from the beginning every five years, but was interrupted in 1939 by World War II and until 1952 revived. The festival may participate only violinist who have not yet reached the age of 30 years. 1935, the Festival took place in Warsaw from 1952 in Poznan.
