Herb Breau

Herb Breau PC ( born December 5, 1944 in skin Sheila, New Brunswick ) is a Canadian business leaders and politicians of the Liberal Party of Canada, which was more than 16 years member of the lower house and briefly Prime Minister.

Life

After schooling Breau holds a degree in Economics, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce ( B.Sc.C. ), and then worked as a business manager.

Already with 24 years Breau became the deputies elected in the general election on 25 June 1968 in the House of Commons and represented in this more than 16 years until his election defeat in the general election on September 4, 1984 constituency Gloucester. During his membership of Parliament, he served as from 17 February to September 1, 1972 Vice - Chairman of the Standing House of Commons Committee on Regional Development.

On 22 December 1972 he recorded his first government post and was until December 21, 1973 Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Industry, Trade and Commerce. Prime Minister John Turner appointed him on 30 June 1984 as Minister of Fisheries and Oceans in the 23 Canadian Cabinet, where he remained until the end of Turner 's brief tenure on September 16, 1984.

After retiring from government and the House of Commons, he worked in the private sector and among other things, in the 1990s a member of the Supervisory Board of the International Development Research Centre ( IDRC ) and Manager at Syscan International, whose managing Chief Executive Officer ( CEO) he 2000-2001 had.
