Herbert Mayr

Herbert Mayr ( * April 27, 1943 in Bolzano ) is an Italian former athlete and politician of the South Tyrolean People's Party ( SVP).

Mayr attended the Franciscan school Bolzano. He then studied at the Sports University in Bologna, where he graduated in 1966 with honors. Then he returned to Bolzano, where he taught at the vocational high school. In addition to profession he was a department manager for athletics in a sports club. In the late 1970s he taught at the University of Innsbruck. From 1987 to 1994 he was president of the SSV Bozen.

1980, 1985, 1989 and 1995 Mayr was elected on the list of the South Tyrolean People's Party in the Bolzano council. From 1985 to 1995 he was deputy mayor of the city. After retiring from politics in 2000, he became president of energy and environmental businesses SEAB (until 2010).

Mayr still lives in Bolzano and has been diagnosed with Parkinson 's disease. From 2002 to 2011 Mayr was president of the South Tyrolean Parkinson's Disease Society.
