Herbert Rawlinson

Herbert Rawlinson (* November 15, 1885 in Brighton, United Kingdom, † July 12, 1953 in Los Angeles, USA ) was an English actor who has appeared in 392 film productions.

Life

The career of Herbert Rawlinson began in 1911 with the short film The Cowboy and the Shrew. This film should follow other movies like Sergeant Byrne of the North West Mounted Police from 1912. He played with his roles in the premier league of silent film actresses in Hollywood. Later, he was also seen in the " Laurel and Hardy " Slipping Wives movie from 1927.

With the introduction of sound film he turned into the character actor, but unfortunately he was now playing almost only minor supporting roles. He stood beside his work in film also on Broadway. In 1929, he was seen for the first time in the play Haul City. Only in smaller films like jungle of dangers in 1000 and King of the Royal Mounted from the year 1940 he took over supporting and important roles.

During 1950 to 1951 he also worked for the radio show Hollywood Star Playhouse as a presenter and narrator. Herbert Rawlinson died on July 12, 1953 from lung cancer. One day before his death he made together with the " worst director of all time" Ed Wood from the film Jail Bait.

Rawlinson had been married to Roberta Arnold. This marriage was divorced in 1923. Even with Loraine Abigail Long and actress Josephine Norman, he spent several years together.
