Make a Wish (1937 film)

Make a Wish is a U.S. film comedy with musical elements from the year 1937 by Kurt Neumann. The production of RKO Pictures was based on a story of Gertrude Berg.

Action

The nine-year chip Winters has an impressive singing voice. During school holidays he visited the Holiday Camp Birch Lake in Maine and is fast with the other boys popular. In a cabin in the woods near the camp, the composer Johnny Selden has retired to work on his new operetta. Chip and Johnny will soon be friends. To give his friend a little of the flair of New York, reads chip Johnny before his mother Irene 's letters.

Irene comes with her fiancé Walter Mays to visit the camp. She learns Johnny know who told her about the first two acts of his operetta. At a party the former opera singer Irene maintains one of the songs from Johnny's work. Walter is upset because he had brought Irene to give up their career. Out of anger he arranges the departure along with chip for the next morning. The bewildered chip passed away sadly from his friends and travels with his mother and Walter from.

Also, Johnny is upset because of Irene's departure. Frustrated, he hands over the last acts of his servant Joseph, to the scores given to the producers Wagner. Joseph, himself an unsuccessful composer, sets out accompanied by his friends Moreta and Brennan on the way to New York. However, the way he loses the manuscript. In desperation, the three try their own material impersonate Johnny's operetta. The producers, however, are put off by the work.

Chip learns of the problems with Johnny manuscript. He rushes in Wagner's office and sing from memory parts of the last acts before. With his mother, he reconstructed then the rest of the operetta. The impressed Wagner can start the operetta. At the premiere Irene enters the stage again. Johnny attended the premiere and is the star of operetta, Irene, close at the end of the arms.

Background

The film premiered on August 27, 1937 its premiere. Up to Basil Rathbone, the cast was largely unknown, this embodied at this time usually the villain in numerous major productions.
