Kurt Neumann (director)

Kurt Neumann ( born April 5, 1908 in Nuremberg, † August 21 1958 in Hollywood, California, USA ) was a German - American film director.

Life

Born in 1908 in Nuremberg studied Kurt Neumann in the 20's first music in various German cities, including Berlin, before he came to the beginning of the sound era from Germany to Hollywood to stage German language versions of their films for major studios.

When he was of English proficient allowed to film from 1931 short films shown in theaters as supporting Neumann. His first feature film he shot in 1933. During the 1930s he made some B-movies.

In 1941 he was engaged by the producer Hal Roach by 45 - minütge feature films as a program filler for double features so-called staging. These were comedies in general. In 1945 he went to producer Sol Lesser and directed the late films of the Tarzan series with Johnny Weissmuller in the title role.

In the 1950s, he became known for his science-fiction films that are today mostly classics. His biggest box office success he did not live, however, as he died of esophageal bleeding on August 21, 1958 in Hollywood, even before the film had The Fly with Vincent Price in the lead role Premiere.
