Ralph Forbes Taylor ( born September 30, 1896 in London, England; † March 31, 1951 in New York City, New York, United States) was a British actor.

Life

Ralph Forbes, who always stated his birth year 1904, was born under the name of Ralph Forbes Taylor, the son of EJ Taylor, a concert singer and actress and theater manager Mary Forbes. One of his two younger sisters was actress Brenda Forbes, who had a successful career as a character actress in numerous British films themselves.

He initially wanted to become a priest before he studied law at the request of his family at Denston College in Staffordshire. Forbes broke off his studies and began in 1917 under the name Ralph Forbes to work as an actor. He toured for several years with various stages through the English countryside. In 1924 he made ​​his debut Broadway, where he met his first wife, actress Ruth Chatterton in the same year. together with the stand in several pieces on the stage. 1926 Forbes got a role in the film adaptation of blood brotherhood as a brother of Ronald Colman and Neil Hamilton.
