Arthur Wing Pinero

Sir Arthur Wing Pinero ( born May 24, 1855 in London, † November 23, 1934 ) was a British playwright.

First Pinero follows his Portuguese -born father, John Daniel Pinero, a Jewish lawyer, and begins to study law. This, however, he breaks off and begins a 1874 commitment to RH Wyndham 's Company at the Royal Theatre in Edinburgh. When he is on stage in Liverpool in 1876, he returned to London. First he plays there at the Globe Theatre, but then joins the ensemble of the Lyceum Theatre. Shortly afterwards he wrote his first pieces. Especially his comedies make the prolific Pinero famous. In 1909 he is knighted.

His romance The Enchanted Cottage has been filmed several times.
