Herbert Wesley Cummings

Herbert Wesley Cummings ( born July 13, 1873 in West Chillisquaque, Pennsylvania, † March 4, 1956 in Sunbury, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician of the Democratic Party and member of the House of Representatives of the United States.

After studying law Cummings worked from 1897 as a lawyer in Sunbury. In 1901 and from 1904 to 1908, he worked as a prosecutor ( District Attorney ) in Northumberland County. In 1911 he was elected a judge of the Court of this county for criminal and civil law ( Court of Common Pleas ) and worked there for ten years as Chief Judge.

As a member of the Democratic Party, he was elected to the 68th Congress of the United States ( 1923-1925 ), but failed in 1924 in his re-election to the 69th Congress. Subsequently, he worked until his death several times alternately as a lawyer and judge elected in Northumberland County.
