West Chillisquaque Township is a township in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania (United States of America) with 2846 inhabitants in the year 2000. More than 98 percent of residents are white.

The township has an area of 35.9 km ², of which 33.5 km ² on land and 2.4 km ² attributable to water surfaces.

Attractions

  • The Rishel Bridge, built in 1830, is probably the oldest wooden covered bridge in the United States, was designed as a Burr Truss bridge, linking the west Chillisquaque Township on the Chillisquaque Creek with the East Chillisquaque Township. The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
  • The Col. James Cameron House is newly built from the 1840 house, which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.
  • Sodom Schoolhouse is a limestone at the beginning of the 19th century built former school house with an octagonal floor plan. It served its original purpose until the year 1915, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
