Heribert Faßbender

Heribert Fassbender (* May 30, 1941 in Ratingen ) is a German sports journalist. For TV broadcasts it always began unmistakably with the sentence 'n evening, everyone ("Good evening, everyone "), which became a cult by him.

Life and career

Fassbender grew up in Ratingen and made the beginning of March 1960 graduated from high school at the Theodor -Heuss -Gymnasium (now the Carl Friedrich von Weizsäcker Gymnasium). He studied law in Munich and Cologne. From 1963 he worked for the radio of the West German Radio and talked about games of the newly formed football league and other sporting events. He also moderated the Mittagsmagazin the WDR radio and mission in Wednesday ... on WDR television. He also appeared as a presenter in the ARD entertainment show on game without limits.

Fassbender ran between 1979 and 1982, the Düsseldorf radio home of the WDR. He also moderated the policy shipment focus Dusseldorf. From 1982 until his retirement on 30 September 2006, he was Head of the program group sports at WDR - TV and is responsible for the ARD sports show, which he hosted 20 years. The press called him "Mr. Sports Show ".

As a sports reporter Fassbender reported nine Olympic Games and eight World Cups and commented on countless football games. He commented in broadcasting the World Cup finals in 1974 (together with Oskar Klose ) and 1978 and on television the final of 1998. Purpose, the European Championship finals came in 1976 (together with Eberhard Stanjek ) and 1980 on the radio and on television in 1984 and 1992.

Since 2000, Fassbender is a member of the Board of NRW Sports Foundation since 2001 and winner of the Order of Merit of North Rhine- Westphalia. Since 2002 he has been president of the Association of West German sports journalists ( VWS). Fassbender had a supporting role as an outside reporter in the feature film The Million Dollar Game by Tom Toelle and Wolfgang amount.

Since 1 March 2007, he has been a member of the Shareholders' Committee of Bayer 04 soccer GmbH.

Fassbender is married. His wife Uta was until the summer of 2010 Education Office Director in the Rheinisch - Bergisch district. The couple Fassbender live in Leverkusen - Lützenkirchen.
