Herman Li

Herman Li (Chinese李康敏; born October 3, 1976 in Hong Kong) is co-founder, guitarist and producer of the power metal band DragonForce.

Life

Herman Li taught himself to play the guitar himself. After playing in various metal bands in London, among others, Demoniac, he founded in the summer of 1999 with Sam Totman and other band members, the band DragonForce (initially as Dragonheart known).

After a great tour with Dragonforce he began to write columns for the British " Total Guitar Magazine".

Herman was elected to the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards 2005 for " Best Shredder ". Together with his bandmate Sam Totman he won in four categories at the Guitar World 's Readers Poll 2007 "Best New Talent ", " Best Metal ", " Best Riff " and "Best Shredder ". For the song Through the Fire and Flames they got the award for "Best Guitar Solo ".

Although Herman Li is left-handed, he plays his guitar right-handed.

Music

Herman Li plays fast and melodic power metal. In his complex solos he uses typical techniques such as sweep picking, but also new effects with the whammy bar Many of these effects and melodies reminiscent of arcade games and computer games from the 1980s and 1990s, for example, to Pac -Man in " Through the Fire and Flames "or Double Dragon in " Black Fire ".
