Hermann Hager

Hans Hermann Julius Hager ( born January 3, 1816 in Berlin, † January 24, 1897 in Neuruppin ), was a German pharmacist, pharmacologist, chemist and author of pharmaceutical and botanical writings.

Curriculum vitae

Hermann Hager came as the son of military doctor John Hager to the world. Hager attended in Torgau school to high school, with sixteen years made ​​his training as a pharmacist in the Lion Pharmacy Salzwedel and put in 1841 without first studying its Staatsprüfung. Two years later he bought a pharmacy in town woman and remained there until 1859. The next stop of his life was Berlin, before he acquired an old powder mill at Fürstenberg (Oder). Ten years later he was living in Frankfurt ( Oder). As editor of the journal Pharmaceutical Central Hall he worked until 1879, he was co-editor of the industry leaves ( 1863-1894 ). Hager discovered numerous new audit methodologies, including in the field of food chemistry, invented for his subject apparatus and new methods and was considered " one of the most prolific writers of Pharmacy" and translator, he wrote, among other things the official Latin text to Pharmacopoeia Germanica I.

He was a member of numerous pharmaceutical and related companies and the American Pharmaceutical Association and established its global reputation mainly through his " Manuale Pharmaceuticum Hageri, " and the "Handbook of pharmaceutical practice ." In 1896, Hager moved in with his son to Neuruppin, where he died on 24 January 1897. His wife Charlotte Friederike Auguste Bauer ( born August 10, 1824 in Lissa, † January 29, 1897 in Neuruppin ) has been buried next to him. The couple had one daughter.
