Hermann Joseph Klein

Hermann Joseph Klein ( born September 14, 1844 in Cologne, † July 1, 1914 ) was a German astronomer and meteorologist.

Life

Klein first learned the book trade, but later studied mathematics and astronomy and built a private observatory in Cologne. Klein became famous especially by careful observations of the surface of the moon. He was then director of the meteorological station of the Cologne newspaper and editor of the popular astronomical journal Sirius, as well as the scientific journal Gaea. Since 1890 he also published the Yearbook of Astronomy and Geophysics.

The lunar crater Klein is named after him.
