Hermann Vogel (German illustrator)

Hermann Vogel ( born October 16, 1854 in Plauen, Vogtland, † February 22, 1921 in Krebes, Vogtland; Artist Name also: Hermann Vogel -Plauen ) was a German painter and illustrator.

Life and work

Bird was born in 1854 as the son of a builder and got 1874/1875 at the Dresden Art Academy under Louis judge. 1877/78 he lived in Italy.

He worked for the publishing house Braun & Schneider and was a founding member of the German society of artists. He also drew contributions to the German youth of Julius Lohmeyer and regularly for Flying leaves. His early following the Nazarene art deviates later a late-Romantic conception general. In addition to Ludwig Richter Moritz von Schwind has affected bird work. Carl Spitzweg also served as a model.

Illustrations published by him, among other things, 1881 in the chosen fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen, 1887 in the folk tales of the Germans of Musaeus and 1891 in Die Nibelungen by Gustav Schalk. Moreover, appeared from 1896 to 1899 the Hermann Vogel album in first two volumes. Volume 3 (pictures and story book ) and band 4 (Old and New by Hermann Vogel ) published in 1903 and 1908. Too Hermann Vogel is the actual creator of the Vaillant rabbits.
