Hermione of Ephesus

Hermione of Ephesus (also: Hermina ) ( † 117 in Ephesus ) was an early Christian martyr and saint.

Hermione considered as daughter of the deacon Philip. The Book of Acts (Acts 21.9 EU) reported that Philip had four daughters, virgins Christian with the gift of prophecy. Hermione had moved with her sister Eutyche to Ephesus to meet up there with the Apostle John, who, however, was already dead. In Ephesus Hermione suffered martyrdom under the Emperor Trajan, possibly only under Hadrian. Bishop Polycrates of Ephesus (2nd century ) sees her as a daughter of the Apostle Philip, but he was subject to potentially create confusion, since the deacon Philip Apostle was sometimes called.

Hermione is venerated in the Roman Catholic and the Orthodox Church as saints. Your feast day is September 4.
