Herpesvirales

The Herpesvirales are a proposed since 2007 and since 2009 by decision of the official ICTV virus order. The differences in the genome structure and phylogenetic relationship between the family Herpesviridae ( from which the name of the order derives ) and two additional, separate genera thereof giving rise to new viral order. The genus Ictalurivirus was in the new family Alloherpesviridae classified (herpes viruses in fish ) and the genus Ostreavirus in the new family Malacoherpesviridae ( a herpesvirus species in oysters ). The old family Herpesviridae now includes only viruses in birds, mammals and reptiles.
