Silver smelt (Argentina silus )

The Gold Salmon ( Argentinidae ) live in the Atlantic, the Mediterranean, the Indian Ocean and the Pacific. The largest and eponymous nature, silver smelt (Argentina silus ), lives in the North Atlantic from Spitzbergen to Ireland, even in deeper zones of the North Sea, and from the Davis Strait to the Grand Banks.

Features

Gold Salmon have a slender, covered with roundhouse body and are 8 to 70 inches long. Her eyes are large and have fat eyelids. The dorsal fin sitting in front of the pelvic fins. The pectoral fins set at low. An adipose fin is present and is located above the anal fin. Pylorusschläuche ( Appendices pyloricae ) are present. The fish have four to six gill- rays and 43 to 70, mostly 46 and 55 vertebrae.
