Hervé Niquet

Hervé Niquet ( born October 28, 1957 in Abbeville ) is a French conductor and harpsichordist.

Life

Apart from harpsichord and organ studied Niquet composition, choral conducting and acting. He soon turned to the choral and orchestral conducting. In 1980 he was appointed choirmaster at the Paris Opera. In the meantime, he sang as a tenor in the ensemble " Les Arts Florissants " under William Christie.

In 1987 he founded the ensemble " Le Concert Spirituel ", named after the institution that shaped Parisian musical life in the 18th century. While Niquet initially the rediscovery of the French " Grands motets " devoted, he tried increasingly later, partly forgotten works by French composers such as André Campra Jean Gilles, Joseph Bodin de Bois Mortier, Marc- Antoine Charpentier, Joseph Michel, François d' Agincour or Paolo Lorenzani to perform in terms of historical performance practice and einzuspielen.

In 2002, Niquet the company headquartered in Montreal, Canada baroque orchestra " La Nouvelle Symphony" and in 2005 he took over the artistic direction of the "Beethoven Academie of Antwerp ."
